I love the leaves under this tree, slightly orange, slightly red. Lucy's favorite are "blue" (still looking for one of those)......

An ode to Kadence

Lucy is not the only funny one at our house. Kady's personality has definitely developed in the last couple of weeks. She babbles a bit more, and has now said "da" for daddy, and refers to him this way. She has 2 favorite words, ma-for more, and MIIIINNNNNNNNNNeh (mine). It's always said with that intensity and volume as well. She is really into hitting, swiping, and biting. Poor Lucy, she doesn't even have to be part of, or near Kady when she is frustrated. Kady seeks her out just to take a swipe at her. She is great at temper tantrums, Jim watched her get mad at me yesterday and run right into the back of the couch...because she was mad...silly girl.

Her second personality is my favorite. Kady is one of the most loving little girls, always giving hugs still, loves to cuddle. She has no fear. I took her to the park today, tried to get her to go backwards down the slides (because she has to do it by herself)--but she didn't care, face first down one of the biggest curvy slides there and she still giggled. She dances to kid music in the car. Twirls to music at home, she has a classic move where she rests her chin on one of her shoulders, as if to make her twirl faster...and that's what she does until she can't stand anymore. She loves to read, especially with daddy. She is just getting into babies and dolls and loves to pretend feed them, hug them, pat them, and "ssss, sssss" put them nuh-night. I don't think Kadence has eaten a full bite of a vegetable since baby food. It's taken us 3.5 years with Lucy and she now finally thinks one of her favorite foods could be beans or broccoli!

Our pediatrician said she had read an article about kid's with Kady's temperament. Their strong-willed, determined, and strong characteristics make them a very successful adult and teenager. They don't give into peer pressure, they stick to their guns, and are very motivated to succeed in life. AHHHHHHHHH--here's hoping to life with 2 easy teenage girls! :)

Bedtime

I seem to never run out of Lucy bedtime posts. It can be the most amusing time around our house. She has totally figured out the cuter she is, the harder it is for us to quickly shoo her back to her room. Now I did know she was up to something last night, she showed me her bear in the cinderella dress, and I did have to help her untie "beary's" hat so he could put on his pj's....but I had no idea. I should have questioned when she told me she didn't have any covers left for her....Sleeping in the hallway or on the floor is not an unusual thing for her, it's just what she decides to surround herself with!

I can do what you do

"Meh, Meh"--Kady's way of saying me too, let me. Lucy doesn't realize how much her little sister looks up to her. Kadence adores Lucy, and wants to do just about anything and everything that she can to keep up with her big sister (good OR bad). She doesn't know the meaning of too little, or not big enough yet. I try to remember all these little moments.....

Dear Lucy

I never know what to expect. You continually keep me guessing, and I wish I had a camera so I could remember everything that you say. Some of my favorites from the week are:

• "just like snow white on her coffin, I'll lay on my bed"


• "they're best friends, they share shoes" in reference to her new barbie and jasmin dolls


• "I'll have quiet time, and then maybe I'll close my eyes"


• "don't worry mom, your hair will grow long and beautiful like mine again"

What a weekend

Jim and I were able to get away...for a the whole weekend. We dropped the girls off at Grandpa and Grandma Koops' and met up with Kelli and BJ for a road trip to Chicago! It was great! The Damstra's dropped us off Saturday at Jeff and Jamie's, and they continued to Bethany and Jason's.

Jim and I love to hang out with Jeff and Jamie. We had a great time just hanging out, eating and drinking well, playing bags, bocce, and even a late night nature hike! Thanks guys, we can't wait to see you again soon!

Saturday afternoon we were picked up and we made it downtown Chicago. Our friend Lindsay, from college, was getting married Sunday night at the Drake. We checked in (thanks for the room upgrade Kelli), and did some sightseeing. It was an amazing day to be out walking and enjoying the "Michigan mile."

The real reason for the whole trip was the wedding. Lindsay made a breath taking bride, and everything, from the ceremony, cocktails, the band, and reception, was amazing! We had a great time! Congrats to the new MR and MRS GOODMAN!

Any excuse is a good one....

...to make cookies. Not that I need any, but I love any excuse to make cookies, especially sugar cookies with frosting. Lucy only needs the sprinkles. In fact, if I let her I think she would just eat a bowl of sprinkles. Kadence didn't even want her cookie, she kept eating the sprinkles off the top, I think we re-sprinkled it at least 8 times. Jim helped, he acted reluctant, but I know that he enjoyed it as well! Happy Halloween!--can you guess who's cookie was whose?
