Any excuse is a good one....

...to make cookies. Not that I need any, but I love any excuse to make cookies, especially sugar cookies with frosting. Lucy only needs the sprinkles. In fact, if I let her I think she would just eat a bowl of sprinkles. Kadence didn't even want her cookie, she kept eating the sprinkles off the top, I think we re-sprinkled it at least 8 times. Jim helped, he acted reluctant, but I know that he enjoyed it as well! Happy Halloween!--can you guess who's cookie was whose?

Post Family Farm

Everyone has to ride in the orange barrels

Lucy did not like it

Kady LOVED it! She kept pulling on the steering wheel like she wanted it to go faster

Lucy's favorite part, besides the yummy pumpkin dougnuts fresh from the fryer

Kady thought everything was so fun, even with the cold
Hayride
Daddy and Kadence

Lucy was a little itchy from the straw!
Check out all the pumpkins

2 weeks in review

God has given me many lessons in the last 2 weeks, mainly about trusting His time in circumstances not my own. --Hopefully more to come on that in the next couple of weeks!

Jim gave me the best gift for our anniversary. He printed out my entire blog into a keepsake book. Now the motivation was there to blog more, share more, and keep up on our life so that I could remember in the years to come. --all to not blog for about 2 weeks.

Kady has become her own unique little individual. She is happier than she has ever been, and loves playing with Lucy. She smiles about everything, showing us those cute little dimples. Here her and Lucy had been playing keep away with her blankie, not always as good of outcome as it was this day. She loves playing peek-a-boo with her hands over her eyes. She is into shoes, and picks out her own pair for the day, she even insists on wearing them over footie pj's. She is starting to say more, mostly babble, but I catch a "momma", "maaa"-for more, "my" -for mine, and "me"-for anything she wants or wants to be included in. She definately knows what she wants and is quite persistant until we figure it out.

The joy of bedtime. Lucy naps well, most days, but she sure knows how to tire us out at bedtime. She plays and reads quietly, but comes out of her room to chat quite frequently. The stories that she can come up with, and the cuteness often makes it hard to shoo her right back to bed. Most nights a threat to take away her favorite item of the day puts the fight to an end and she finally settles down for some sleep. This night Jim had said something about a pair of shoes......and look what we found when we went to bed that night. She had quietly lined up all of her shoes as a peace offering in the doorway of her bedroom. What a girl!

This is what Lucy thought of the Michigan-Michigan State game on Saturday. I had gone downstairs to do some computer work. I wondered where the yelling had gone, I just figured Jim had had enough by the third quarter and turned the game off. Sweet Lucy had snuck up on his lap and fallen fast asleep. It was good to see all of Jim's excitment in a silent fashion. It was like living with a mime! So sorry wolverines....so sorry Tigers!

Lucy loves to play games with her daddy. The funniest part of this picture is the excitement of Lucy's turn. Jim is not cheering her on, but looking dead ahead at the television and cheering for the Tigers....sorry Luce!

We are continuing with our princess ballerina dance class. Lucy is in love with Ms. Susan and every fun thing that she can share. I think the best part of the week is Lucy plannig ahead for what she will wear the next time she comes. Diva Luce--if I would curl her hair and let her wear make-up I might think she is 15.

single parenting

My Michigan girls enjoying their color coordinated popsicles

So cute that Kady figured out how to say "cheeeeee"

Our stop on the bridge--you can smell the leaves and fall in the air

Lucy rode her own bike the entire way. And she was "verrry bwave" because she rode her bike home down the long hill on the second attempt

My cute little ray of sunshine!
Wow, Jim had his annual golf outing with his highschool friends this past weekend. Thursday thru Sunday is a lot longer with 2 busy girls. I really am thankful for all of his work while he is home. I told a friend that if I had to be a single parent I would live in a one bedroom, well maybe 2, privacy would be good at some point, shack. Each child would be allowed one toy, we
would wear the same clothes every day, and eat off of paper plates; no dishes, no mess. All in all I am very thankful for my husband and his support, in ALL areas of life!!!!

We did have a wonderful weekend, we enjoyed tons of time outside, games with neighbors, some bikerides and walks, ice cream, church picnics, pizza at Aunt Laurie's, stopping by grandpa and grandma's, and lots of snuggles. I can say that after a week off I am definately ready to go back to work tomorrow! :)

Lucy's princess dance class

Lucy was very excited to pick out the "princess" dress that she would wear for her first day. I wonder what she will pick for next week?

Today was our first day of Lucy's "dance class"! She has been so excited to dance. She surprised me today with how attentive and open she was to trying all her new moves! I think they made this class for Lucy......they pretty princess that she is.

One last day at the beach

A night of dancing and twirling in fancy shoes

Getting to paint our toenails all by ourselves

and ice-cream..."I can't believe I ate all that!"
Wow! I refuse to think of labor day as the "end" of summer. According to the calendar we really have 2 weeks left of summer--denial is a good thing at times. We packed a work free weekend as full as we could. We ran non-stop, took naps in the cars, ate everywhere but our own house, and created many memories with our families!
